Pingouin birthdays

8.01.2008

I made a penguin for my friend, Rachel's, birthday.
I named him Popsicle but she can name him whatever she wants. :3
He, of course, likes freezers and popsicles.
Unlike the other children he has no hair,
and likes to wear a beak, so he looks more like a penguin.
He doesn't like human noses. Mhm.

I tried yet another new bit while making him.
Kindof.
I made the body all one piece so I didn't have to sew a neck, which was nice, and made the body shape cute.
BUT
The fabric I used began to tear, and I didn't think ahead for the Victorian heart button, or the belly.
Plus I don't much like flat-ness for children when it comes to the coat, at least for him. It makes it look funny.
Aw well, yet another learning experience.

Pomegranate birds.
Closely related to cherry pit birds.
They make their nests out of the hardened outer shell of pomegranates once they've eaten all the seeds. Also their main food source.

Their beaks are like the seeds.
Their bodies are coloured like the outside of the pomegranate.
The underside of their wings are like the inside. :3

Drawn for Muse 'cause that's her favourite fruit. Also as like, a belated birthday card because my attempts to make her a ploo doll have failed thusfar.
Kinda quick (about an hour and a half) but I really like how the pomegranate looks.

I was just gonna have them on the bench or wherever they're sitting and a yellow background but I added a lot of green, like the moss and such, so the red would stand out.

I've been busy, and yet, lazy lately.
I have lots to do and many people to see!
So I apologize for the lack of posts. :c
But things will pick up soooooon, I promise~
